These unpretentious yet traditional vessels have become iconic symbols of the city, cherished for their connection to everyday life and their role in domestic use. Almost every household in Granada owned one or more, their numbers varying according to the household's size.
These ceramics held great significance for families, passed down from one generation to another as precious heirlooms. If, by any unfortunate circumstance, they broke, they were lovingly repaired with staples, never to be discarded.
Valued for their versatility in the household, large lebrillos were once used as washing basins and to mix ingredients in the kitchen. Now, these intricate designs and colorful motifs adorn the walls and gardens of many homes.
The hand-painted lebrillo holds immense value among collectors as these exceptional pieces chronicle the rich cultural heritage of Spain, its Moorish heritage and craft traditions.
