This modern take on the ancient o inochoe or wine jug is a testament to the craftsmanship of Fajalauza artisans.
Nestled in the hills of Granada, local artisans continue to create modern tableware using the same techniques first popularized in the region in the 16th century.
This voluptuous pitcher boasts a cheerful tableau. Winding branches and bursting flowers spread across the surface of the jug. Azarapito real or curlew, a slender bird with a downcurved bill and mottled brown plumage, stretches hopefully toward a ripened pomegranate fruit.
Handpainted in indigo blue, the designs covers the entire surface of the pitcher from base to spout.
